It seems like major mobile manufacturers are trying hard to woo the energetic and socially active CEO of T-Mobile USA. After HTC recently gifted the CEO a 24-karat gold plated HTC One (M8), Samsung has now followed suit and given him a gold variant of its flagship, the Galaxy S5. It’s likely that Samsung has only given the CEO John Legere its gold color variant of the smartphone and not a solid gold model like HTC, but it is gold nonetheless.
Given that the CEO is very active on micro blogging site Twitter, he almost immediately made the news public to his fans. HTC’s gold plated One M8 is launching exclusively in the Middle East while there’s no word of Samsung’s plan to launch such a variant.
Hardware wise, both handsets are the same as any other color variant you would get, so it’s only a change in color or build quality in the case of the HTC One (M8). It is yet to be seen if this publicity stunt from Samsung and HTC will do any good for the sales of their products.
