The Galaxy S4 mini was far from an impressive smartphone when it launched in mid 2013, but it looks like the Galaxy S5 mini could fix some of the problems of its predecessor, according to specs leaked by Samsung fan site SamMobile.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S5 min will feature a 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, an upgrade in both screen size and resolution compared to the disappointing screen on the Galaxy S4 mini. It will run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and will sport a Snapdragon processor (possibly a Snapdragon 400), 1.5GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, 16GB of storage, an IR blaster, and a 2,100 mAh battery. It will apparently be water-resistant like the Galaxy S5 with an IP67 certification, though the site doesn’t offer details on whether it will also include a heart rate and fingerprint sensor.
The Galaxy S5 mini will sport model number SM-G800, and a June launch is hinted at, which would make sense considering that’s around the same time the Galaxy S4 mini came to market. Pricing remains a mystery, though we’re sure more information will leak out in the coming weeks.
