Oppo has revealed that it will be launching the R1S smartphone next week at a dedicated event in China. This event scheduled for April 25 will unveil a slightly modified variant of the Oppo R1 carrying 4G LTE, which is an essential feature for many international markets. The manufacturer will reportedly offer a 4,000 mAh external battery pack and a mobile wireless speaker along with the smartphone for free as a promotional offer.
The Oppo R1S is expected to pack a 5 inch 720p display, a 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and possibly Android 4.4 KitKat. The 3G only variant of the smartphone will feature 1GB of RAM and a MediaTek made SoC according to initial reports.
Looking at the hardware, it’s clear that Oppo wants to bring the device to markets outside China as well, which is a very good sign. There’s no word on the pricing at the moment, but if past devices from the manufacturer are anything to go by, we don’t think the Oppo R1S will go heavy on your wallets.
