LG sends out Android 4.4.2 for the G Pad 8.3 tablet

LG G Pad 8.3

The LG G Pad 8.3 tablet was expected to get the Android 4.4 update sometime in Q2 and it seems like the manufacturer has already made up its mind to roll out the update. Initially, devices in Europe reported getting an update notification but it now seems like American variants of the tablet are getting the update too.

The Google Play Edition G Pad 8.3 has already received the update several months ago, so this update is only applicable to models featuring LG’s custom UI.

The update brings the popular Knock Code unlock feature which allows users to lock and unlock their device in a variety of taps or knocks to provide extra security. This feature was first seen on the LG G Pro 2 which broke cover in February.

American customers might have to wait a few hours before getting the update notification, but make sure you head over to the settings and check for an update manually as well.
