We’ve heard about Amazon’s plans to launch a smartphone from several months now. One rumor even suggested that it would team up with HTC to bring this smartphone to the market, but that didn’t materialize. A new report has now claimed that the online retailer plans to launch its new smartphone in June this year, with units starting to ship out by September. The rumored 3D content feature is said to be available with this handset.
It is believed that Amazon has provided test prototype units to developers in Seattle and San Francisco, which confirms the existence of this product. However, we don’t have access to live images or pictures at the moment, so take this with a grain of salt until then.
Considering the massive popularity of Amazon’s recently launched Fire TV console, we can already predict the kind of demand its smartphone would see, assuming that the pricing remains minimal. We will hope to stumble across more leaks of this mystery smartphone in the coming days.
