Samsung’s S Circle fitness band makes its way to the FCC

Samsung S Circle

Samsung has already launched three wearable devices this year with the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit. It seems like a third one is in the making, according to a new FCC listing. Known as the S Circle, this could be a conventional fitness tracker band with no display, much like the Jawbone Up and the Fitbit.

All we have right now is this listing, so it’s hard to ascertain more details on this wearable. However, given that the company has already exhausted its quota of wearable launches for the first half of the year, it’s safe to assume that this fitness band could launch later this year, possibly along with the Galaxy Note 4.

With the likes of the Gear Fit already coming to the market, launching another fitness band doesn’t make a lot of sense. This makes us a bit skeptical on seeing this device in the markets. However, Samsung has a history of launching several variations of a similar product, so we will not be surprised if this is eventually launched.

  1. I’m waiting for this to come out. I think by the time this hits the market, Fitbit and Jawbone would have released improved versions of their products. it’ll be a good competition.

  2. I agree. Plus, there is also the cost factor. These S Circle bands would be way cheaper compared to the Gear 2, or the Gear Neo, or even the Gear Fit. There is also the fact that you don’t have to worry too much about accidental scratches or cracks on the display.

  3. The purpose of launching this alongside the Gear Fit would be to target the market which the Jawbone Up and the Fitbit Flex are enjoying. And in my opinion, that’s quite a profitable market, as not many people who run everyday would want a big and heavy device like the Gear Fit around their wrists.
