Rumors suggest Apple could be bringing iTunes app to Android

All of the major mobile players have their own music subscription service. And Apple is no exception to that fact. However, with music sales shrinking somewhat, the Cupertino giant is reportedly looking to bring its service to a broader audience, which in this case is Android.

According to a report on the Billboard magazine, the iTunes music store could soon make its way to Android in the form of a dedicated app, much like Google Play Access. This move would sound logical given that Google’s music service is available on the iOS AppStore.

This is a move which nobody would have guessed some years ago, but it’s clear Apple is in a position to do anything so as to gain some extra marketshare from Android users. However, it won’t be easy as it already has plenty of rivals to combat. So take this report with a pinch of salt, as with any rumor, but we’ll keep you in the loop if we get any new information.

  1. It makes perfect sense for Apple to bring iTUnes to Android. It’s obvious that more and more people are embracing Android everyday compared to iOS.
given the huge number of Android users, Apple sees it as a good potential market.

  2. If Apple brings iTunes to Android, that’s like conceding that Android is more popular than iOS these days.
I think Apple is now realizing that Android appeals to more people than its own OS.

  3. We can think of that only if Apple decides to actually make an Android version of iTunes, which I don’t think is happening anytime soon.

  4. Agreed. I have had nothing but problems with any Apple product I have ever owned. That is the one reason that I switched to Android devices. I won’t be happy if Android lets Apple in.

  5. I don’t really think that Apple will be successful on Android devices. There are many other choices to choose from. Why would people want to choose iTunes? I know I won’t.

  6. I agree. I hate buying Apple products and it is only because I hate using iTunes. I hate that you can only buy your music from one source. I won’t be using iTunes even if Android does pick it up.

  7. But the question is, will iTunes be available globally. Play Music store is not available everywhere. My friends in India says there is not way to purchase music on Google Play Music.

  8. As a Mac user with an Android phone, I’d welcome this (even though any music I get on iTunes transfers just fine onto Google Play). It would make more sense to me if iTunes moves would play on the Android app. But that said, I’ll believe it when it happens and won’t plan my calendar around it.

  9. It’s only a rumor thankfully. Apple has fought bringing iTunes to Android for years now. I don’t think it’ll happen, especially with their public distaste for Android. It could look bad on the company.
