Rumor: Google could launch its first retail outlet in Manhattan

Google Retail

A new rumor claims that Google could be finally launching that much rumored retail outlet in the SoHo area of Manhattan very soon. It is being said that the Mountain View giant is all geared up to lease an 8,000 square foot outlet to showcase and sell its products.

Google’s retail presence is currently limited to kiosks within major outlets like Best Buy and others, so its own outlet will certainly avoid the clutter and give its products more exposure. However, this is still a rumor with no concrete confirmation available from the company, so we won’t jump to conclusions just yet. Interestingly, Google’s proposed outlet falls in the vicinity of an Apple Store and several other popular outlets like Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Tiffany & Co etc.

It certainly sounds like a good idea to launch a retail outlet as fans of Google products seldom get to try them out before buying. And this store could change all that. We can expect devices like the Chromebook, Google Glass as well as the Nexus devices to hit the shelves if this idea ever materializes. We will keep you in the loop for more information on this rumored retail shop.

  1. Awesome. Can’t wait for more Google stores to be open. Apple has their own exclusive store. Makes sense that Google should have one too.

  2. Yeah, it does, but then again, most popular companies do have a storefront to advertise their products. However, most companies also have a lot of devices to show, whereas Google doesn’t have a whole lot in comparison to Samsung and Apple.

  3. Hmm, sounds like Google is trying to become more like Apple. I’ll believe it when I see it, though. For now, I think Google is doing just fine selling their products online and in retailers like Best Buy.

  4. A Google store would be nice, but to be honest, Google doesn’t have enough products to justify a store. They have the Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Nexus 5, plus a few GPE phones, but that isn’t really enough to justify a 8,000 square foot store…

  5. I’m not too sure it’ll actually happen. Let’s remember that last year we heard rumor after rumor regarding this subject, and Google eventually came out and confirmed that it wasn’t going to happen. So, are we going to start up this rumor mill again or wait for some actual confirmation?

  6. I almost wish I lived closer, I would totally go to an opening of a Google store. I use it for just about everything now anyways so getting that hands on experience would be great when it comes to things I really want to test out but have no way to do in a normal store.
