HTC Watch movie service being shut down from March 31

The HTC Watch movie download service is coming to an end on the 31st of March according to an official company statement. This movie service hasn’t enjoyed a large number of customers since its inception and the company began shutting down the service in some regions early last year, so it was only a matter of time before it was shut down in more regions subsequently.

HTC has requested all users who have paid for the content to download it onto their devices so as to not lose it after the service is closed down forever. This is quite an unfortunate end to a service which showed great potential during its inception. But with several movie download services available, including Google’s own Play Movies and TV, HTC never really stood a chance. With the company failing to turn in profits with its devices and services, this move seems logical too. HTC will now look to turn things around with its upcoming new gen HTC One handset which is set for an unveiling on March 25.
