A new rumor claims that Google could be looking to launch the Nexus 8 tablet with an 8.9 inch display, taking it closer to the 10 inch segment. Previous two iterations of the Nexus tablets have come with 7 inch displays, but if this rumor is to be believed, Google could be finally making the switch to a bigger display for its budget tablet.
So does this mean Google won’t launch a 10 inch model? It’s hard to tell at this point, but several rumors in the past have hinted at the launch of a Nexus 10 successor, but they have all been proven to be wrong. But as of now, all the focus will be fixed firmly on the Nexus 8 as it is just months away from launch.
It’s unlikely that the tablet would be unveiled during the I/O event in June, but we might get hints of its arrival during the course of this developer conference. Our guesses are pointed towards a potential July or August release, much like last year.
A Nexus tablet with an 8.9 inch display certainly sounds good to us, but what impact will that have on the pricing of the device? That will be very interesting to see.
