The international models of the Sony Xperia Z1 are now getting the much awaited Android 4.4.2 update. The update carries the build number 14.3.A.0.681 and comes with quite a few changes as well. The Japanese manufacturer began the rollout of Android 4.4.2 last week for devices such as the Xperia Z Ultra, the Xperia Z1 Compact as well as the Xperia Z1.
Since this is a staged rollout, users are expected to remain patient as the update notification could take some time to appear. If it hasn’t shown up yet, make sure you try connecting the device via Sony’s PC companion tool and check for an update there manually. Users can also head over to the Settings to see if the update is available.
Sony has apparently tweaked the stock camera app with this update and also made other small changes to its core apps. Given that the camera is one of the highlights of the Xperia Z1, it’s commendable that Sony has made some changes. It’s not clear at this point if Sony has brought support for 4K video recording with this update, which is something the recently announced Xperia Z2 has.
