Chromecast Finally Launches Internationally In 11 Countries

After over 8 months, the Chromecast is finally rolling out worldwide. Until now if you wanted a Chromecast outside the United States, you had to buy one from eBay or have a friend or relative that lived in the US that could send it to you. You also needed a VPN for some services like Netflix to function. No more!

Here is the list of countries where you can now purchase a Chromecast directly from Amazon or Google Play:

  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • The United Kingdom

That’s quite an expansion for such a little dongle. Google also says they have localized content for these countries, such as BBC iPlayer in the UK, France TV Pluzz and SFR TV in France, and Watchever in Germany. The Chromecast costs £30 in the UK, €35 in Europe, and $39 in Canada. Now go out and enjoy one!

  1. This is one of those Raspberry Pi like devices right? A few of my friends are into all that electronics stuff. They love such devices.

  2. Germany! Finally. Thank you, Google. We have been waiting for this for a long time now. We did get a few units of the device from the US, but most of them refused to work on our devices. Hopefully the ones released here will not have any such issues.

  3. 11 more countries. Awesome! I hope Google launches this in more countries. This is an awesome product and has many uses, starting from entertainment and business meetings.
