How to Boost Galaxy S3 Call Volume

Galaxy S3 Call Volume

A new question came via The Droid Guy Mailbag asking, “After the update on my Samsung Galaxy S3, the volume on my ringtones and what I hear from a caller dropped very low. I clicked the new icon when talking for extra volume but it has no effect. It was fine before the update.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.”

If the volume problem of the Galaxy S3 only occurred after updating its firmware version to Android 4.3, then, there is a huge possibility that the update is the culprit behind the problem. But before completely blaming the update for it, try out these ways to boost Galaxy S3 call volume first:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone icon to get to the dialer.

2. On the Phone app, open the Menu using its key.

3. Hit Call Settings.

4. In the list, make sure that the box beside the “Use extra vol. for calls” is ticked. If it is already checked, toggle it Off and then On again.

5. To use the feature, all you have to do is tap the Extra Volume icon which appears on the upper right corner of your screen while making or receiving calls.

If the solution shown above to boost Galaxy S3 call volume fails, try to check your phone under Safe Mode if the problem persists. When the issue is fixed in Safe Mode, there may be another app interfering with the standard functions of your device. Simply locate and disable, or better, uninstall the problematic app to remedy the situation.

Another way to solve a problem that only occurs after an update is by clearing your overall cache through the Storage options under Settings. And if that does not work, backup your device and do a Factory Reset to remove any conflicting or corrupted system files causing the bug.

When all else fails, then, we can therefore assume that it is the new update causing the bug. So, either wait for an update that contains a fix or flash your firmware to an earlier version.

  1. I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S3 (yes NEW) and was struggling with this issue for HOURS. The sound was perfect for videos, media, and with headphones. But when trying to hear a phone call, it sounded quiet and muffled. I finally realized it was because I had kept the protective rubbery-plastic screen protector on the phone. I was going to shift out to a glass screen protector after completing setup (had to test a phone call to ensure my phone number transferred to the new SIM). If you’ve tried everything, the answer might be right in front of you. So, thought I’d share here.

  2. HI, I took a lot of pictures of things I sell on Ebay, when I got ready to move them to a file so I could start posting them every one of them showed error.
