It was made public back in January that the ASUS Padfone X would make its way to the U.S. exclusively via AT&T. The carrier has now shown off this tablet in a new post on Twitter, speaking of its 5 inch + 9 inch display combo. It doesn’t say a lot in terms of availability or pricing with the status still being coming soon, but with a teaser like this, it’s evident that a launch is imminent. But given that the device is an exclusive through the carrier, AT&T might take its sweet time to launch the device.
The Padfone X is an ideal device for multi tasking users who want a tablet as well as a smartphone right next to them at all times. It features a 5 inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and Android 4.4 KitKat. Strangely, there’s no word on the rest of the hardware of this phone+tablet combo, so we will have to wait until AT&T spills some details on that. But since it is a high end device, it is safe to assume that it will pack something like a Snapdragon 800 SoC and even a 13 megapixel camera perhaps.
We hope AT&T announces availability of the Padfone X soon, as there’s a huge market for devices like these in the U.S. This could also help Android grab some of that tablet marketshare from Apple.
