Although A Google Edition version was released almost immediately, no one could have anticipated that we will get three other variants of the device in quick succession – the Galaxy S4 Mini, Active and Zoom. If you thought Samsung would stop at five variants, you would be surprised to know that there is another variant of the Galaxy S4 dubbed Galaxy S4 Value Edition that may be launching soon.
Samsung shook the smartphone market when it released its current high end flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4 last year, most of us were very happy that finally, a device laden with sensors and features is within reach, and this would be the best smartphone one can buy and use for years. The Galaxy S4 Value Edition is another addition to the family.
Rumors of Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, are dominating the smartphone scene, especially with the launch coming soon, but this hasn’t deterred Samsung from working on a new variant of the current flagship seemingly to provide the best possible device options for those who would rather not buy what is already on the market.
The Galaxy S4 Value Edition (VE), model number GT-I9515, has been confirmed to exist by SamMobile and it may be on its way to the market if leaked documentation files are anything to go by. Late last evening, a Bluetooth SIG certification document confirming the existence of the Samsung GT-I9515 appeared online, revealing most of what we need to know about the device.
Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S4 VE is a reincarnation of the original S4 based on its features and specifications. The device will come with a quad-core 1.9 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, not the improved Snapdragon 800 and it will have the same 5 inch 1080p display. The main difference between this and the original Galaxy S4 is that the Value Edition will come with Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box and will be available in a rainbow of colors – brown, black, blue, pink, purple and red.
Could Samsung have brought back the original Galaxy S4 because of demand or are they covering the bases they missed with the original device? Some quarters speculate that the Galaxy S4 Value Edition smartphone is Samsung’s approach to replace the traditional menu key on the device with a recent apps button and provide the most recent apps and tools.
It is unclear as of now whether the new device will have a faux-leather back cover design or whether it will be as affordable as the moniker seems to imply. Some other possible monikers for the device including Samsung Galaxy S4 Neo have been floated, but since this is the initial leak, more details will emerge soon.
Do you think the sixth variant of the Galaxy S4 is reasonable or is the South Korean manufacturer pushing its luck. With the Galaxy S5 just around the corner, what would make you buy this new Galaxy S4? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
