HTC hosted the Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) yesterday to interact with the Reddit community and answer user questions as well. During this session, the company gave away plenty of interesting information, but the one which made the most noise was the word about software updates for its future flagships. According to the Taiwanese manufacturer, all future HTC flagships will get software support for up to two years and that includes all major Android releases as well. The company said – “Given the immense resource requirements for updates we can’t solve all our past issues, but today we are making a commitment to support all new flagship devices going forward with all major Android updates for 2 years after their release date.”
So can we expect the HTC One to support all major software updates in the coming year? Well we can’t say for sure, but hardware compatibility shouldn’t be an issue for the smartphone. The upcoming HTC M8/One Plus should be included in this list as well. Although HTC promises software updates, it doesn’t promise speedy and timely rollouts which has always been a major concern for the company.
