According to a report by Bloomberg, Taiwanese manufacturer HTC could be looking to set foot in the wearables industry with its new smartwatch. The company hasn’t done all that well in the mobile industry over the last couple of years, so it’s only logical for the company to give the smartwatch market a try. It is believed that the company’s first smartwatch will break cover in time for the holidays later this year, so there’s still some time left.
The chairwoman of HTC, Cher Wang said that the company has been planning to bring a smartwatch for the last three years, so the company has clearly thought about it before. Maybe the company wanted to notice the performance of its competitors so as to assess the market situation accordingly. The likes of Samsung and Sony will launch new smartwatches in the market later this year, so it’s quite clear that HTC will have to pull something special out of its hat if it wants to make an impact with its first smartwatch. Let’s hope we get more clarity on this in the months to come.
