Taiwanese manufacturer ASUS has just announced a new variant of its popular Padfone Infinity hybrid. Known as the Padfone Infinity Lite, this tablet/smartphone hybrid aims to woo potential buyers with a solid specs sheet and a convincing price tag. So let’s jump right into the hardware side of things.
The Padfone Infinity Lite features a 5 inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a quad core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 chipset, a 13MP camera on the back as well as a 2,400 mAh battery. The tablet dock sports a 10.1 inch 1080p display and comes with an additional 5,000 mAh battery.
Unfortunately, the device is believed to be running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, with no official word on future updates yet. The Padfone Infinity Lite is expected to launch in Taiwan by March for NT$13,990 ($462) and an additional NT$7,000 ($231) for the tablet dock. While ASUS hasn’t spilled the beans on global availability, we expect the Padfone Infinity Lite to eventually make its way out of Asia. ASUS is expected to launch the Padfone series in the U.S. by Q2 2014, so maybe we will see the Padfone Infinity Lite make its way to the U.S. eventually.
