Alcatel has just unveiled the One Touch Idol 2, Idol 2 Mini and Pop Fit smartphones just ahead of the MWC event. These smartphones will specifically target the mid-range segment much like other One Touch series of smartphones.
As the name indicates, the One Touch Idol 2 and Idol 2 mini are the successors of the original One Touch Idol and the Idol Mini. The Pop Fit is a fitness oriented device with a low price tag, so it won’t hit your wallets as much as the former two.
The Pop Fit sports a 2.8 inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, 512MB of RAM and a 1 GHz dual core MediaTek processor. It also comes with 16 or 32GB of internal storage, a 1,000 mAh battery and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The smartphone will come bundled with five extra back covers along with a fitness armband and JBL earphones. Pricing has been set at €89 ($122).
The One Touch Idol 2 features a bigger 5 inch 720p resolution display, a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and an 8MP camera on the back. It also packs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and 4G LTE on board. This model will set you back by €199 ($273) and €249 ($342) for the 3G HSPA and the 4G LTE variants.
The One Touch Idol 2 mini will share the camera and the processor but will sport a smaller 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540. This variant will also sell in 3G and 4G variants with pricing set at €169 ($232) and €209 ($287). Alcatel claims that all three smartphones (or at least the Idol 2 and Idol 2 mini) will get an update to Android 4.4 KitKat soon.
