Wikipad introduced a new product aimed at mobile gamers which is expected to be released later this year. The company, which is best known for making the Wikipad tablet, announced the Gamevice which is a split type controller that expands and contracts to fit almost any mobile device. Its purpose is to provide physical buttons to consumers to make playing games easier.
Just like the Wikipad tablet the Gamevice comes with analog sticks, D-Pads, shoulder buttons, and A, B, X, and Y buttons just to name a few. It uses what the company says is a “flex bridge” design which makes it fit tightly on any mobile device.
The controller is designed to work with various Android and Windows 8 devices with support for iOS in the works however this is not official yet. It connects to a device using a USB port or wirelessly by Bluetooth.
Fraser Townley, President of Wikipad, said that “We value the opinions of our community. We heard from many people who either expressed love for the Wikipad 7” or who already owned an iPad or an Android or Windows 8 mobile device and wanted us to make a controller that worked for them. We are currently working on versions for Windows 8 and Android devices. We have not forgotten other important OS systems and we hope to announce additional support those in the near future.”
The company said that the Gamevice will be released later this year however no specific price detail has been announced.
