The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite has just been officially announced by Samsung, just as the user manual of the tablet was made public yesterday. The tablet is just as we had heard about in leaks, so there’s no element of surprise regarding the specs sheet. Samsung has taken the term Lite very seriously with the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite as it features a very low end hardware specs sheet to qualify as a budget tablet. The tablet sports a 7 inch 1024 x 600 resolution display, a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, a 2MP rear camera with no front facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with microSD expansion, a 3,600 mAh battery and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It weighs about 310 grams, so it’s not entirely Lite.
As of now, there’s no word on the pricing of the tablet but we expect it to be under $180. There are going to be two variants of the tablet with one being the standard Wi-Fi only variant and the other with cellular connectivity (3G), so pricing shouldn’t be too high. The tablet will be available in Samsung’s standard Black and White variants, so nothing’s changed in that regard. We expect the tablet to make its way to the U.S. through major carriers like AT&T, Sprint and Verizon in the coming weeks.
