There have been several rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S5 since late last year each with its own twist on what the upcoming flagship model of the company will be like. One of the official announcements surrounding this device comes from Samsung’s VP and Head of Design Strategy, Dong-hoon Chang who said that it will be announced at MWC 2014 and will be launched later in April.
Fresh information revealed by SamMobile indicates that the Galaxy S5 will be available both in metal and plastic versions. The metal version will be priced around 800 Euros while the plastic version around 650 Euros. This is similar to what apple has done with the latest iPhone which also has a metal (iPhone 5S) and plastic (iPhone 5C) version.
Samsung will of course be heavily promoting the metal version which if rumors are to be believed isn’t actually made entirely out of metal. Reports say that the battery cover is made of stainless steel while the other parts are made of plastic to reduce the weight of the device.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 will have a 2,560×1,440 pixel AMOLED display of a still unconfirmed size. There are strong reports that it be 5.25 inches. The device will use a 16 megapixel rear camera and it’s also unconfirmed if it will come with hardware optical image stabilization. The processor used will depend on the whether the device has LTE or not. It’s going to use either the Exynos 6 processor or the Snapdragon 805 processor.
The Exynos 6 processor will have 64-bit support and is able to use all eight cores simultaneously. The Snapdragon 805 processor is also reportedly going to be first used by the S5 and will offer a higher performance than the Snapdragon 800. It’s still not known which processor goes to what model. If we were to take a guess it’s most probably the metal version that will be using the Exynos 6 processor while the plastic version will use the Snapdragon 805 processor.
