While we saw Samsung failing with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch last year, it wasn’t certainly going to be the last time we heard of a Samsung wearable. Soon after its launch, we came across a Google Glass like device leak out through a patent application filed by the company. And now, a company official named Dennis Miloseski has confirmed the arrival of more wearables in 2014 along with confirmation of a Spring time launch for the Galaxy S5, which is something we knew already but it’s always great to get official confirmation from a company official.
His mention of wearables however has managed to increase speculation among us. He claimed that due to the concern regarding battery life, Samsung will have to continue launching devices which act as companion accessories (like the Galaxy Gear), which is bad news for people who don’t own a Samsung device as these tend to be exclusive to Samsung hardware. However, the company is reportedly looking to launch independent wearable devices in the future, much like the recently shown off Intel smartwatch prototype. So we expect to see more Samsung exclusive smartwatches launching in the near future. However, it’s too early to assume that Samsung will make its future smartwatches a “Samsung exclusive“, as the company is more than capable of surprising its fans.
