Samsung has just announced a special variant of the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 directed towards the educational sector. This new variant of the Samsung tablet will be launched with the Google Play for Education program which comes with a few educational and school specific features. This tablet will only be sold to schools or such educational institutions via Samsung’s hardware sales partners in the U.S. Sales will begin from April, with the pricing yet to be disclosed.
The hardware is pretty much the same as the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, with the only difference being the addition of school specific applications. To our surprise, Samsung claims that the tablet will come bundled with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, which indicates that the standard Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 tablets will get the update by April as well. Samsung plans to offer this to schools for the 2014-2015 academic year which kicks off in a few months. Samsung is trying to make its way into the educational sector which is currently dominated by the Apple iPad. The company has been successful in catering to the specific needs of the market with a variety of tablets ranging from low-end to high end, so Samsung will hope to make inroads in this segment as well.
