A new leak has revealed the possible arrival date of the Red Nexus 5. According to an internal Sprint document accessed by the folks at Android Central, the smartphone could be launched on Feb 4 which is this coming Tuesday. Since we’ve seen the smartphone leak out on the Google Play Store beforehand, we don’t think it will be limited to just one carrier in the U.S. Don’t be surprised if T-Mobile has its own variant as it currently sells the Nexus 5 in its retail outlets.
The unlocked pricing should be the same and we don’t expect any different as far as availability is concerned. We don’t think Google will make a formal announcement for the red variant, with carriers probably taking that responsibility as it is only a new color variant. There’s still some time for Tuesday, so we hope to learn more about Google Play availability by then. The original leak revealed the existence of plenty of other color variants through Google Play, but we’re guessing Google will take it slow and will test the waters with the red variant first.
