Korean manufacturer Pantech has revealed plans to launch the successor to the Vega Iron smartphone in April. The successor known as the Vega Iron 2 will look to leverage the popularity generated after the success of smartphones like the Vega Secret Note and the recently launched Vega Secret Up. There’s no word on what the Vega Iron 2 will feature but it is clear that the smartphone will take on the flagships of the year, most likely the Samsung Galaxy S5, so expect a competitive hardware specs sheet.
The Vega Iron from 2013 wasn’t a massive success and mostly went unnoticed, but Pantech would like to change that with the successor. Reports mention that the smartphone will sport a fingerprint scanner on the back much like the recent Pantech smartphones. It is said that Pantech is going all guns blazing with the Vega Iron 2 as it has already partnered with three South Korean carriers to bring the smartphone to the region. The smartphone in all likelihood will remain an exclusive to South Korea unless the company decides to launch these devices globally.
