According to Twitter source Evleaks, AT&T will launch the ASUS Padfone X tablet/smartphone hybrid in the U.S. today. The tweet was sent out late last night by Evleaks where it claimed that the device will be launched tomorrow (which is today), so we should expect an announcement from ASUS later in the day. The Padfone X was leaked last month through AnTuTu, so we haven’t had an official look yet, but it should be an upgraded version of the Padfone 2 from last year.
The leak from last month revealed that the Padfone X will feature a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset, a 1920×1200 resolution display (size unknown), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 5MP rear camera and Android 4.4 KitKat. It will be interesting to see how ASUS and AT&T will market the device in the U.S. with the presence of the Apple iPads. However, with no high end Android tablet competing with the iPad directly barring the ASUS made Nexus 7, the Padfone X might prove to be a more than decent alternative for users.
More to follow.
