Verizon started sending out Android 4.4 soak test invites for the Motorola DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra and the DROID Mini recently, and the update finally kicks off officially today from Verizon’s servers according to a tweet sent out by the carrier. The update rollout might extend until Christmas as three devices are getting the update, but most users must have the update by late next week if not sooner. As these handsets feature pretty much the same hardware and features as the Moto X, we can expect the update changelog to reflect familiar changes. But since this is a Verizon branded smartphone, users can expect to see the usual array of bloatware apps to be well in place here.
However owning a Motorola handset these days has its own perks as the manufacturer gets updates almost immediately after Nexus devices. Barring a few delays from carriers, users can be assured that an update is on the horizon sooner or later. You can find the update changelog and instructions in Verizon’s PDF documentation link below.
