Sony’s QX-10 and QX-100 camera lenses have been widely praised for its versatility and the ability to take photos independently rather than depending on the smartphone camera. However, these clip-on lenses can’t easily snap onto any device, so Sony had to announce cases for some smartphones which would make these lenses fit perfectly. One such case has just been announced for the company’s largest smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra. This add-on case has just been announced in Hong Kong with information on global availability slated to follow soon. The case costs HK$238 which is close to $30 in American currency.
The case will be sold in White and Black variants at the time of launch. We expect other Sony smartphones like the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 f and older Xperia devices to get similar cases in the future. The case should be compatible with the Google Play Edition Xperia Z Ultra as well considering that they’re basically the same device except for the software inside. Sony is expected to give out more details on many more such add-on cases during the upcoming CES event.
