Samsung Android smartphones are usually among the first to get the latest Android updates after the Nexus and other Google devices get it. The tradition, it seems, will continue with Android 4.4 KitKat as well according to a report by French carrier SFR. This leak/report claims that Samsung will roll out the Android 4.4 update for the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 flagships before the end of January 2014. This possibly applies to unlocked international variants of the smartphone and the carrier variants might have to wait further until the update starts rolling out. This leak backs up what we’ve heard on several occasions in the past, which is reassuring for the users.
Unfortunately, there’s still no official word on the status of the update for 2012 flagships like the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II. But knowing Samsung, it is unlikely that those devices will be forgotten. And since hardware compatibility is not an issue with Android 4.4, Samsung shouldn’t have much of a problem.
