As we bid adieu to 2013, it’s time for introspection for most manufacturers and Samsung will look back at another successful year as the top Android manufacturer. The company has just published its tablet sales report for the year which reveals that it sold a whopping 40 million tablets in the year. Given that the company has lots of tablets in varying display sizes, it is able to tap into the budget as well as high end market segment, although Apple still holds the major chunk of the tablet marketshare as of now.
Samsung will look to increase its sales/shipments figure substantially in the coming year as it plans the launch of several high end tablets, especially those with an AMOLED display. A majority of the sales this year were accounted for by the 7 inch Galaxy Tabs which have a huge market in Asia and Europe. And considering the fact that Samsung was offering several promotions and discounts throughout the year, the sales figures don’t come as a surprise. However, Samsung will want to increase sales of its high end tablets in the coming years.
