Samsung reportedly begins manufacturing of 5.25 inch QHD panels for the Galaxy S5

The launchSamsung of the next major Samsung Galaxy flagship is not far away as the myriad of rumors have indicated. And it seems like Samsung has already started preparations for the launch of the handset as it has reportedly begun manufacturing of 5.25 inch QHD (Quad HD) 2560×1440 resolution display panels for the upcoming Galaxy flagship. This means Samsung will keep in line with the tradition of increasing the size of its flagship smartphones each year.

The size won’t be much of a concern for users as we’ve already seen the LG G2 launching with a 5.2 inch display although the resolution was 1080p and not QHD like the one we expect to see on the Galaxy S5. To put things in perspective, a 2K or QHD display has exactly double the amount of pixels as compared to a conventional HD or 720p panel (Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II). The 5.25 inch 2K resolution display on the Galaxy S5 will effectively give the device a pixel density of 559 pixels per inch, which is far more than what the human eye can capture, so it almost sounds like overkill, but we won’t complain until we see it first hand.
