Early this month Chinese phone manufacturer Oppo teased a new device called the Oppo R1. The company more or less announced that “Next-generation R1 OPPO smartphone for night shots. New revolutionary sensor for great night shooting, new PI engine to preserve the real colors of the pictures. Glass body, excellent craftsmanship, and beyond the best technology is coming in late December!” Not much information was given then letting people wonder what this device is all about.
Recently several high definition photos have surfaced online showing the Oppo R1 in every possible angle. The new photos confirm the glass back that the device was originally seen with. There’s also a metal frame which is similar to the Find 5 and N1 which should make it durable. The power button on the left side and the volume rocker keys on the right side are also made of metal. At the bottom of the device is a microUSB port and the speaker grills.
The leaked specs of this device indicate that it will have these features listed below.
- 5-Inch 720p display
- 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 MediaTek MT6582 Chipset
- 1 GB of RAM
- 16 GB of Internal storage
- 5 megapixel front-facing camera
- 8 megapixel rear-facing camera
- Android 4.2.2
- 7.1mm thin
In terms of specifications we could see that it is comparable to most of the other mid-range Android smartphones available in the market today. The Oppo R1 will have an advantage in its design which isn’t made of cheap materials as well as on its camera which is said to take great photos even in low lighting conditions.
There is no information yet as of the pricing and availability of this device. The most likely scenario is that the company will be rolling out this device next year.
