There are only a few dedicated Android game consoles out in the market today but this number is slowly increasing. Joining the ranks of devices such as the NVIDIA Shield, OUYA, and GameStick is M.O.J.O. from Mad Catz. This device which was first revealed at E3 2013 last June is now shipping and costs $249.99.

The M.O.J.O. Android game console is pretty much easy to use and hooks up to your TV using an HDMI cable. One mobile gamepad is included for use in playing any of your favorite games.

Mad Catz describes this device as “M.O.J.O. is the most powerful media device available for the Android tech enthusiast. Now you can play your favorite controller-compatible games like never before — in all the glory of 1080p HD! M.O.J.O. takes Android games, apps, movies & TV, music and the Internet from the touchscreen to the big screen. This device is definitely one of the most powerful Android gaming consoles to come out in the market lately. Its use of the Tegra 4 T40S 1.8GHz Processor combined with 2GB of RAM will provide a console quality Android gaming experience. This device even supports 5.1-channel surround audio which when combined with a compatible speaker system will definitely provide the best audio experience.

One thing that the company is proud of is its bundled controller called the GameSmart C.T.R.L. Mobile Gamepad which maximizes your mobility without sacrificing the best features of a console-style controller.

This controller connects via Bluetooth and has low latency. The buttons and analog stick are well placed making it ideal for gaming.

As far as gaming title goes, consumers will have access to lots of them. The device comes pre-installed with Google Play that has thousands of great titles. If that’s not enough then there’s the NVIDIA TegraZone Apps that has games designed to specifically run with devices using Tegra processors.

What will probable make consumers think twice about getting this device is its price tag. Other choices for Android gaming include the OUYA which costs only $99 while the GameStick costs only $79.99. The NVIDIA Shield which is a portable gaming console that comes with its own display costs $249 which will appeal to mobile gamers.

On the other hand consumers looking for a powerful system will find that the M.O.J.O. is perfect for their Android gaming needs.

Unfortunately, this device has been released just after the release of the PS4 and the Xbox One which means that a huge chunk of gamers might be skipping this.
