A couple of days ago, we saw the LG V510 tablet leaked out by Evleaks claiming that it is the Nexus 8 tablet we’ve been hearing so much about. But today we have come across a new image of the tablet revealing the front and back without any sort of Nexus branding. This raises question regarding the credibility of previous leaks. Considering that the tablet has no Nexus branding whatsoever, it’s safe to assume that it isn’t going to be sold by Google. This could well be a separate LG tablet which we haven’t seen before, although it seems a bit odd that LG would launch a tablet now as it very recently launched the G Pad 8.3. Older reports had indicated that the V510 could be the LTE variant of the G Pad 8.3, but we’re not sure if that holds any weight now, although we can’t rule it out entirely.
With this revelation, it’s safe to assume that the Nexus 8 doesn’t exist after all. But that doesn’t solve the mystery of this tablet. We can expect to learn more during the CES event in early January which is a perfect platform for any device launch.
Update: It seems like this is the Google Play Edition (GPE) LG G Pad 8.3 which will be sold directly through Google Play in the coming days. This will officially be the third Google Play Edition device after the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone and the first tablet to join the roster. We should expect an announcement from Google and LG in the coming weeks if all goes according to plan.
