A report from Chinese site Sina states that the upcoming Vivo Xplay 3S smartphone will cost as little as $740 unlocked and off contract in local Chinese markets during launch. This is a surprisingly low price tag considering the prices of unlocked smartphones in the market today. Of course, these prices will shoot up extravagantly when it is imported overseas, but the local pricing is surely impressive. The smartphone is sold by BBK which is relatively unheard of in the mobile world, but is a popular figure in China and Russia.
The Vivo Xplay 3S will be sold in 32 and 64GB flavors with prices of 4,498 Chinese Yuan ($740) and 4,999 Chinese Yuan ($823) respectively. The smartphone is a powerhouse in terms of specs as it packs a Snapdragon 800 chipset, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.3, a superior camera with f/1.8 aperture and a beefy battery to keep the 5.5 inch 2K display (2560×1440) running for long. We’re not too optimistic about the handset’s global release, but considering the stature of the device, it would be foolish of BBK to not launch it in global markets.
