MediaTek just recently launched its new true 8-core processor called the MT6592 which is not only powerful but power efficient as well. In line with this several smartphone manufacturers have announced their upcoming models that will be using this new chip.
One such device that is launched today and is the very first smartphone to use the MT6592 is the Zopo ZP998. There have been a lot of rumors lately about this device with nothing official coming from Zopo. Today we have the official specs of the device.
Processor: 8-core MT6592
Zopo has opted to use the 1.7 GHz version of the 8-core MT6592 chipset with 700 MHz Mali 450GPU. This is combined with 2GB of RAM to provide a flawless user experience. Based on the benchmark tests released by MediaTek this could mean that the Zopo ZP998 could have an AnTuTu score of nearly 30,000.
Just like what the rumors suggested this device sports a 5.5-inch display. It supports 1920 x 1080 FHD resolutions and has 401ppi. The display is very sensitive in a sense that it can be used with wet hands or even with gloves on.
Camera: 14 mega-pixel F/2.0 rear camera, 5mp front
Most flagship models suffer from terrible camera quality but not the Zopo ZP998. The rear camera is 14 mega-pixels with an aperture of F/2.0. This makes it take excellent photos in low lighting conditions. There’s also a 5 MP at the front which can be used to take video calls and record 1080p videos.
OS: Zopo OS
The device runs a version of Android which the company calls as Zopo OS. One main feature of this OS is that it supports gesture shortcuts. Drawing “C” on the display will open the phone app for example.
The other important features of this device include NFC, USB OTG, 5 GHz WIFI, WIFI direct, Bluetooth 4.0, WIFI display, Compass, noise reduction technology and BVE voice technology. There is also a support for dual-SIM as well as a microSD card slot that can support up to 64 GB. The battery being used is 2400mAh which can reportedly provide 270 hours of standby time.
The Zopo ZP998 is now available for the international market via the company’s online store. The device has a pre-order price of $299.99. This includes the phone, battery, charger, USB cable, earphones, protective film and cleaning cloth.
