Xiaomi currently has the Mi3, Mi-2 and Hongmi handsets up for sale in China and it appears to have received an overwhelming response from the Chinese public. A report claims that the Chinese manufacturer has sold over 220,000 smartphones within just three minutes since the company’s Single’s Day sales began earlier today. This is a resounding figure by any standard and easily a record in terms of volume. Xiaomi put up 110,000 units of the three smartphones up for grabs, with the Mi3 managing to sell out all units within a matter of minutes, along with the other two smartphones.
Xiaomi raked in a total of RMB 300 million at the end of the day which is the equivalent of $49.24 million. So all in all, Xiaomi would be very pleased with the Single’s Day sales and will hope to gain more traction as the stocks of the Xiaomi Mi3 are replenished. The Mi3 is a widely acclaimed handset as the company gives users the choice to pick between a Snapdragon 800 SoC or a NVIDIA Tegra 4. The variant that is sold currently runs the Tegra 4 chip with the Snapdragon 800 variant slated to arrive later next month. Both variants cost RMB1,999 ($328), which is an absolute steal considering the hardware packed inside. Given the obvious difference between the two variants, it is probably wiser to wait until the Snapdragon 800 variant is available.
