T-Mobile is the only U.S. carrier that has been keen on selling Sony smartphones, and after launching the Xperia Z, it’s the Xperia Z1 that the carrier will be making available to its customers. Following a confirmation by Evleaks, the Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile has been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG, bringing the device one step closer to an official launch.
The Bluetooth filing doesn’t give us a confirmed launch date, but with holiday season fast approaching, an official announcement should happen before November ends. Pricing details remain similarly unknown, but an on-contract price of $199 wouldn’t be too far-fetched, though with Sony not exactly a popular name in the country, a lower price would go a long way towards making people choose the Xperia Z1 over higher-priced competition like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
As with every other currently available Sony flagship, the Xperia Z1 is water- and dust-resistant thanks to its IP58 certification, though its main selling point is a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, which comes with a 1/2.3” sensor and BIONZ image processor for unmatched camera quality (well, at least on Android devices).Other specs include a 5-inch Triluminos 1080p display, 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of storage expandable via microSD slot, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Sony’s custom UX on top.
