Qualcomm Snapdragon

Qualcomm is currently the top dog as far as mobile CPUs and GPUs are concerned. Its Snapdragon 800 SoC is currently the most sought after chipset in the mobile world. However, Qualcomm can’t ride on its success for long and will have to launch upgrades to keep up with the quickly evolving industry. With that in mind, we now hear that the chip maker is readying the launch of the all new Adreno 400 GPU during the upcoming CES 2014 event in Vegas.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any further information on this chipset+GPU combo besides the fact that it will be a major upgrade over the Adreno 330 GPU which comes with the Snapdragon 800 chip. The name indicates that this will be a major upgrade over the current crop of graphics chips, which is very exciting news. We might see devices bundled with this GPU in mid or late 2014 as was the case with the Snapdragon 800 chip this year. Hopefully, this GPU will make its way to the next Nexus smartphone in 2014.
