This story broke cover earlier this week, but somehow got mixed up with tons of other announcements, leaks and what have you. So we found it fitting to make a mention of this new patent application filed by Google’s subsidiary Motorola. The company has filed a patent for a “Throat Tattoo” which is exactly what it sounds, but not merely a cosmetic approach towards tattoos. Instead, this will reportedly act as a Bluetooth powered Microphone for current crop of Google devices like Google Glass and several other Google products that are set to launch in the coming years. The standout feature in my opinion is the lie detector feature, which is supposed to be included in the tattoo, which sounds way too good to be true. We heard rumors of Motorola working on a tattoo based authentication system back in May, so this could well be an extension of the same idea.
The patent filing reads – “Optionally, the electronic skin tattoo can further include a galvanic skin response detector to detect skin resistance of a user. It is contemplated that a user that may be nervous or engaging in speaking falsehoods may exhibit different galvanic skin response than a more confident, truth telling individual.”
Google Glass already comes with a new and updated design, bringing optional earbuds for people willing to buy it. This, in addition to the throat tattoo could go a long way in making our futuristic geek fantasies come true.
