The Google Play Edition HTC One is now getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update as expected. The update arrives shortly after Google finished the rollout for its range of Nexus tablets and the Nexus 4 smartphone. We can now expect the Google Play Edition Samsung Galaxy S4 to get the update as well.
The update skips the Google Now Launcher from the Nexus 5 and packs identical changes as the recent Nexus 4 update. Users will notice a new dialer app, revamped icons and an overall increase in fluidity and smoothness of the UI. The top right of the smartphone (status bar) will now display the network bars, time in white rather than in Holo Blue used by Google since Android 4.0. Apart from this, Google has introduced a plethora of bug fixes which is very welcome.
Users can download the update manually by heading over to the HTC Dev link below or just wait for an official OTA to pop up. Considering that the smartphone is not sold in all parts of the world, we expect the update rollout to finish within a matter of few days.
