Black Friday 2013 Android Deals, Part Four – Google Play, T-Mobile, Newegg, Fry’s, Micro Center and More

We’ve come a long way in our quest to win Black Friday (you know, like on “South Park”), with three installments in the most epic special deal roundup around live and available here, here and here for your viewing pleasure and bank account salvation.

Black Friday

Only it’s not over until the fat lady sings or, in this particular case, until the first long-lost distant relative who’s auto-invited himself to your family Thanksgiving dinner hurls and passes out on a couch following a bit of festive eggnog intoxication.

And since some of you probably haven’t even bought a turkey yet, there’s definitely time. Time for calculations, shopping lists, ideas for Christmas gifts, loan extensions, the scoring of last-minute work bonuses and pretty much anything that can allow the tiniest of extra wiggle room in the market for the best Black Friday bargains.

Most of all, there’s still time for a fourth chapter in our BF Android roundup saga, this one exploring savings at Google Play, T-Mobile, Newegg, Fry’s Electronics, Micro Center, Costco, Groupon and Rakuten.

Google Play Black Friday deals

The whiff of the holiday season likely doesn’t truly get to you until the umpteen 70-something aunt you had no idea was still alive asks for the hundredth time what you do and what exactly web content writing means.

That sort of magic is only rivaled by the festive hangovers succeeding Thanksgiving Day or Christmas, but why put up with the third degree over and over again when you can simply ignore the interrogations and finish up a few extra levels of Need for Speed Most Wanted?

Sounds cynical? Yeah, but it’s so, so fun. And the sweetest thing is plenty of uber-cool Android apps are to be discounted between now and next Monday, with the current offer including the following:

  • Need for Speed Most Wanted – $1.99
  • Prince of Persia Shadow & Flame – $0.99
  • Go Launcher Prime – $3.99
  • Heavy Sword – $0.99
  • Contre Jour – $0.99
  • Principia – $0.99
  • The Bard’s Tale – $0.99
  • Choplifter HD – $0.99
  • Shadowrun Returns – $6.99
  • Solar System HD Deluxe Edition – $1.00
  • OfficeSuite Professional 7 – $5
  • Total War Battles – $1
  • Big Sport Fishing 3D – $2
  • Order & Chaos Online – $1

But wait, there’s more, as Big G’s Play Store is to hold a promotion on some sweet hardware too, namely the 2013 Nexus 7, available from now through March 31, 2014 (whaaat?) with $25 free Google Play credit and free shipping. Not the deal of a lifetime, but if you’re not comfortable purchasing the N7 elsewhere, it’ll definitely come in handy.

T-Mobile BF 2013 discounts

All the spanking new, sizzling hot, top-shelf Android smartphones on sale for a whole week and thus valid both before and after Thanksgiving? Yes, please, T-Mo, and forgive me for ever doubting you have what it takes to go after Verizon, AT&T and Sprint, the US carrier medalists nowadays.

Best Android deals:

  • LG G2 – $0 down payment with $25 monthly installments plus $48 off the total price with promo code G2PROMO
  • Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 – $48 savings with promo codes GS4 DEAL and SAVENOTE3
  • Nexus 5 – $12 upfront with coupon 30NEXUS
  • Sony Xperia Z – $456 full retail price ($48 off)
  • HTC One – $0 down with $23 monthly payments plus free urBeats earbuds

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 – $441.99 with $0 down

A discount retailer extraordinaire by definition, Newegg has chosen to play it coy so far, leaking to the press a puny one-page Black Friday brochure. Worst of all, the ad doesn’t list the special prices of products on sale, so I’m afraid for the most part we’re left forced to play the waiting game.

Either that, or look elsewhere, but I wouldn’t advise the latter approach, since I’m fairly certain Newegg has some tricks up its sleeve. For now, this is what we know:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 – $290 with promo code EMCWWVR22, price valid now and guaranteed to not drop any lower
  • Select tablets (Galaxy Notes, Tabs and Nexus 7 included) – 10% off with promo code EMCWWVR83
  • Dell Venue 8 – discount coming soon
  • Sony SmartWatch 2 – special price unknown

Fry’s Electronics

There aren’t so very many Androids to be offered on the cheap with Fry’s come 9 am Thanksgiving Day, but the handful of devices will be up for grabs for almost unbeatable prices. Plus, you’ll be able to reserve items on the official website and then pick them up between 6 and 9 am Friday. Not bad.

Black Friday studs:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 – $159
  • Lenovo Yoga 10.1 – $249
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 – $299 plus $50 gift card
  • Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 – $169
  • Prepaid AT&T Avail 2 – $39

  • No-name 7-inch tablet with Ice Cream Sandwich – $47
  • No-name 9-incher with Jelly Bean – $89

Micro Center

Another retailer with a seemingly thrifty Black Friday pitch, Micro Center goes even lower than Fry’s on several gizmos, thus making the offer as a whole rich in quality. And take a look at page 3 of the store’s leaked 10-page flyer. It says 51 more pages are to follow, so it’s crystal clear this is but a mere sample of what’s to come.

Also, I realize I’m on an Android-focused website, but dayum, there are some solid deals on Windows-powered laptops, PC components and peripherals in there.

Android hotties:

  • Asus MeMo Pad 7-inch tablet – $99.99
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, 8.0 and 10.1 – $140, $250 and $280
  • Nexus 7 2013 – $200 with 16 GB storage, $230 in 32 GB variant
  • Nexus 7 first-gen 32 GB – $150
  • Nexus 7 2013 4G LTE – $330

  • Eken (?!?) 10-inch tablet with Android 4.2 – $100
  • Azpen (?!?!?) 7-incher with Jelly Bean – $40

What’s that, you don’t have a membership card with Costco yet? Then you’d better go ahead and sign up, borrow from a friend or steal one (just kidding with that last part). Once again, I’m getting the impression we don’t have the full Black Friday story on our hands as of now, albeit if this is only a start, it’s a darn promising one.

Best deals:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 – $30 off
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 – $50 off
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 – $100 off
  • Free Dell Venue 8 tablet with each $599.99+ PC purchase (and on that subject, the $650 Dell Inspiron 15R touchscreen laptop and $999.99 HP 15t Quad TouchSmart Full HD notebook are looking hot)

No monkey business, grand hoopla, bells or whistles and only one Android promo. But boy, is that a doozy! Check it out: Asus and Google’s 2012 Nexus 7 going for $119.99 with 16 GB built-in storage and $149.99 with 32 GB memory. Live online now and valid for three and a half more days or until limited quantities run out.

Today’s episode of the Black Friday 2013 chronicle has been one filled to the brim with uncertainties, incomplete information, secrets and puzzles.

It’s therefore befitting to wrap up the festivities on the same note, as Rakuten, like so many of its competitors, has let parts of its holiday promos slip to the media, the rest of which will be up in the air no more either Thursday evening or Friday morning.

Best deals:

  • Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch – $249.99
  • Asus MeMo Pad HD7 tablet 16 GB – $99

Alright, take a breather now, get some sleep and be ready for one hell of a ride. We’re here to guide you all through it, so be sure to check back to us the next few days for regular updates and new, impossible to refuse Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals.
