A month ago Xiaomi announced its upcoming flagship smartphone called the Xiaomi MI3 which is expected to not only be released in China but the global market as well. The company is known for making high quality Android devices and offering them at low prices. They are also known for their MIUI custom Android interface that has even been ported to other devices.
Company co-founder Liwan Jiang announced recently that the Xiaomi MI3 will go on sale this coming October 15. This will however be the Nvidia Tegra 4 variant which is specifically made to run on China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA 3G network.
There’s still no announcement yet as to when the variant using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset will be out. This is the WCDMA variant that can be used on most networks worldwide. Mass production for this version hasn’t started yet since Xiaomi has opted to use the latest MSM8974AB Snapdragon 800 and not the MSM8974 which is commonly found in most high end smartphones today. The delay may be in Qualcomm’s side as there is still no smartphone using the MSM8974AB chip out in the market today. Rumors however suggest that it may become available late November or early 2014.
