Samsung’s own Google TV alternative, dubbed as the HomeSync finally has a release date in the U.S. This home set top box/media hub can be yours for $299.99 beginning from October 6. This multimedia hub will connect to any television with an HDMI port and quickly transform it into a Smart TV. HomeSync also comes with a 1TB hard drive and support for over 8 accounts to be hooked up, so that all family members can share content between each other. Since this is a cloud based service, users can back up all their essential data on this device and access it remotely from anywhere. Over seven Galaxy smartphones and tablets will also act as a remote for HomeSync. As a gesture of appreciation, Samsung will offer a $50 credit for users who register their device to spend on TV Shows and Movies through Samsung MediaHub.
The list of compatible Galaxy devices include the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, Galaxy Note 8.0 and the Galaxy Camera. There’s no word on where Samsung will sell HomeSync, but we can expect to see prominent retailers like Best Buy and Amazon selling it from this Sunday.
