Kindle Fire HDX screens reportedly suffering from purple haze issue

Kindle Fire HDX

The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX is a direct competitor to the 2013 Nexus 7, and it appears to have received a major setback just days after its official launch. According to new owners of the tablet, the 7 inch Kindle Fire HDX is suffering from a purple haze issue around the edges of the display. Issues like this are quite common in new devices and a user has been kind enough to upload a video briefly explaining this manufacturing defect. Best Buy is reportedly exchanging tablets suffering from this issue, but even exchanged units seem to be suffering from the same issue. So it seems like Amazon has to set it right from its manufacturing unit in China before thinking of exchanges, because the problem could be more widespread than we think.

The purple haze around the edges of the display is prominently visible on white backgrounds and is barely noticeable on darker backgrounds, so it shouldn’t scare off potential buyers in any way. The fact that Amazon is encouraging returns is also an acknowledgment of the issue and we can be assured that this glitch will be fixed.
