Beats is looking to make the splash into the Music Streaming service in the near future against current competitors such as iTunes Radio, Spotify, Rdio, and Google Play All Access. This morning, Beats President Luke Wood told TheNextWeb that they will be launching their Beats Streaming Service “within the next few months.”
The streaming service will be available for both iOS and Android, but it isn’t clear if they will both launch at the same time, or if either OS will get exclusivity. As Luke Wood mentions, Beats’ strategy for competing against current streaming services is playlists: ”We’re going to focus really heavily on playlists, because that’s how we consume music and that’s how most people consume music.”
Basically, Beats will be centering their service around you, and giving you personalized playlists, rather than forcing you to delve deep into their music collection and searching for music you may like. Luke Wood adds that “We’re talking about real depth of personalization and knowing who I am, who you are, what we’re listening to, what we like, what we’ve listened to before and then offering up music that is highly relevant to our taste profile.”
This will certainly be an interesting strategy among consumers. If they pull this off well, it’ll be interesting to see how competitors such as Spotify and Rdio react.
