The demand for the new BBM app is well known to us. And even with its new queuing system for new users, it hasn’t gone down one bit as users inch to get their BBM on. BlackBerry announced the roll out of the BBM app yesterday on Android and iOS devices with a waiting list to avoid any server clashes. And in the midst of all that, it is claimed that over 5 million users were able to download the app within the first 8 hours of its availability, which quite an achievement. However, a majority of these users were made to wait till the queue is cleared up, so only those who registered for updates a couple of weeks ago were able to actually use the app.
BlackBerry has sent out a tweet saying the queue has cleared up for the next 5 million, so you could be one of them. We expect the app to be normally available in a couple of weeks time when the hype and buzz fizzles out, but until then, the waiting game will definitely continue.
