ASUS has just announced the launch of two budget tablets in its home turf. The ASUS MeMO Pad 8 and MeMO Pad 10 are more than capable budget tablets, with a decent price tag. There’s no word yet on ASUS’ global plans for these tablets, but we can expect them to be launched all over Asia, Europe and North America in due time.
The MeMO Pad 8 features an 8 inch 1280×800 resolution display, a 5MP camera on the back, a 1.6 GHz quad core chipset (possibly MediaTek), 1 GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The MeMO Pad 10 packs a 10.1 inch IPS display with the same 1280×800 resolution, a 2MP rear camera with a 1.2MP front camera, a 1.6 GHz quad core chip similar to the one on the MeMO Pad 8, 1GB of RAM, 8 and 16GB storage variants with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The tablets will be priced at NT$ 7,990 ($272) and NT$ 8,990 ($306) respectively. The pricing of these tablets will certainly make it an attractive offering for potential buyers, although it’s imperative that ASUS plans a wider roll out.
