With so much talk about Samsung‘s flexible displays earlier this year, it has now come to light that the first smartphone with the said display might go public as soon as next month in South Korea. The information comes directly from Samsung as the head of strategic marketing for its mobile division, Mr. D.J. Lee has mentioned that the company will launch a complete and finished unit of the smartphone in October.
We’re hoping this is legitimate information as we have waited too long to see this concept come to fruition. But at this point it’s not clear if this smartphone will ever make its way outside Samsung’s home territory of South Korea. As of now, it’s impossible to tell if this smartphone will come with Android or Samsung’s home grown Tizen OS.
Samsung’s industry rival LG is also prepping its own flexible display smartphone which was rumored to hit markets before Samsung’s flexible display handset, but that seems unlikely now. For the time being we can expect to see minimal implementation of curved displays, but the possibilities are endless going into the future.
